North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was the second-most searched figure in the world on Google in 2020, according to Google Trends, Friday.

금요일 구글 트렌드에 따르면, 북한 지도자 김정은이 2020년 구글에서 전 세계 두 번째로 많이 검색된 인물인 것으로 나타났다.

Kim ranked second in the people category to U.S. President-elect Joe Biden.

김정은은 조 바이든 미국 대통령 당선인에 이어 ‘피플' 부문에서 2위를 차지했다.

Google searches for Kim especially hiked between April 26 and May 2, when there was a barrage of media reports regarding suspicions about his health after CNN reported he was in a critical condition after surgery.

김정은이 수술 후 위독한 상태라고 CNN이 보도한 이후 그의 건강에 대한 의혹을 보도하는 언론 보도가 쏟아지던 4월 26일과 5월 2일 사이에 그에 대한 검색량이 급증했다.

Along with Kim's name, some other keywords linked to speculation about his health were also highly searched, including "death" "coma" and "brain dead" according to the Korean language version of Voice of America (VOA).

미국의소리(VOA) 방송은 김정은의 이름과 함께 ‘사망' ‘혼수상태' ‘뇌사' 등 그의 건강에 대한 추측과 관련된 키워드들이 높은 검색량을 보였다고 보도했다.

The brouhaha surrounding Kim's health issues and possible death disappeared after the North's state media showed photos of him on May 2 attending a ceremony for the completion of a fertilizer factory the previous day.

김정은의 건강 문제와 사망설을 둘러싼 한바탕 소동은 북한 관영매체가 비료공장 준공식에 참석한 그의 사진을 5월 2일에 공개하자 사라졌다.

The largest number of searches for Kim Jong-un were made in Singapore, where the first Pyongyang-Washington summit was held in 2018, followed by Uganda and the U.S., according to VOA, which did not explain why people in Uganda showed such a strong interest in the North Korean leader.

김정은에 대한 검색이 가장 많았던 국가는 2018년 북미 정상회담이 열렸던 싱가포르였고 우간다와 미국이 그 뒤를 이었다고 VOA는 보도했는데, 우간다 사람들이 북한의 지도자에 강한 관심을 보인 이유를 설명하진 않았다.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson ranked third in the people category on Google Trends, followed by U.S. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and actor Tom Hanks. U.S. President Donald Trump did not make it into the top 10.

보리스 존슨 영국 총리가 구글 트렌드의 피플 검색 부문 3위에 올랐고 카말라 해리스 미국 부통령 당선인과 톰 행크스가 그 뒤를 이었다. 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 10위 안에 들지 못했다.
