검사가 무엇을 위한 것인지 궁금해 할 경우

(Patients demanding explanations of the services they received)

(HE = hospital employee 직원; P = patient 환자)

HE: You’re up for a blood test today. Aren’t you going to the blood test room?

직원: 오늘 혈액 검사가 하나 있는데, 오늘 하고 가실 건가요?

P: A blood test?

환자: 혈액 검사요?

HE: Yes, your chart here states that you’re due for a blood test.

직원: 네. 혈액 검사를 하라고 돼 있는데요.

P: I haven’t heard anything about that.

환자: 얘기 못 들었는데요.

HE: Would you like to check with your doctor when his current appointment is over?

직원: 의사 선생님 나오시면 다시 한번 여쭤보시겠어요?

P: Sure.

환자: 네.

HE: All right. Then I’ll ask him when the patient in his office leaves.

직원: 지금 선생님 진료 중이시니까, 진료 중인 환자분 끝나고 잠깐 나오시면 여쭤봐 드릴게요.

P: Okay. Then I’m going to take a seat and wait here a bit.

환자: 네, 그럼 여기서 일단 기다릴게요.

HE: Sure.

직원: 네.

(A moment later)

(잠시 후)

P: By the way, why do they say I need a blood test now?

환자: 혈액 검사가 있다는데 왜 하는 거죠?

HE: That’s part of your thyroid examination.

의사: 갑상선 검사 때문에 하시는 거예요.

P: Does it have to be today?

환자: 꼭 오늘 해야 하는 건가요?

HE: Well, if you are short on time, you can do that on your next visit.

의사: 시간 안 되시면 다음에 오실 때 해도 돼요.

P: I see.

환자: 알겠습니다.

HE: So, which is it? Do you want to take the blood test today?

직원: 오늘 채혈하고 가시겠어요?

P: Is it going to take long?

환자: 오래 걸리나요?

HE: No, we draw a sample of your blood in less than a minute.

직원: 아니요 채혈은 금방 해요.

P: Then I’ll just do it today.

환자: 그럼 그냥 오늘 하고 갈게요.

HE: All right.

직원: 알겠습니다.
