텐배거 회사들이 더 많이 출현하는 주식시장

Nowadays it is more frequent to see tenbagger stocks ― which pay off more than 10 times the initial purchase price ― both in Korean stock markets and global markets.

요즘 국내 증시와 해외 증시 모두에서 초기 매수 가격에서 10배 이상 오른 일명 ‘텐배거' 주식이 더 자주 출현하고 있다.

While more cases of tenbaggers are witnessed in the U.S. stock markets, where daily price ceiling systems do not exist, it's not very often to see a newly listed firm in the Korean market log a 10-fold increase in a few months' time due to the daily price increase limit enforced at 30 percent.

일일 상한가 제한이 존재하지 않는 미국 증시에서 텐배거 주식들이 자주 나오는 반면 국내 증시의 상한가는 30%로 제한되는 만큼 신규상장 기업이 몇 달 내에 10배 상승을 기록하는 경우를 국내에서는 쉽게 보기 힘들다.

However, local biopharmaceutical company Vaxcell Bio Therapeutics, which made its listing debut on the tech-heavy KOSDAQ market last September, saw its stock price skyrocket to 202,500 won ($185) at Friday's closing. This is nearly a 10-fold jump from its closing price of 21,300 won on the first day of listing on Sept. 22.

그러나 지난해 9월 코스닥 시장에 상장한 국내 바이오제약업체 박셀바이오는 지난주 금요일 종가 기준으로 주가가 20만2,500원까지 치솟았다. 이는 9월 22일 상장 첫날 종가 2만1,300원에서 10배 가까이 오른 가격이다.

The firm's stock also took the top rank in rate of returns among newly listed companies in both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets for 2020.

이 회사의 주식은 2020년 코스피와 코스닥을 합쳐 신규상장 기업 중 수익률 1위를 차지했다.

It is the first time in the Korean stock markets since the dot-com bubble period in 2000 that a newly listed firm achieves a tenbagger performance in just four months since debuting at the securities market. Even the infamous SillaJen ― once one of the largest market cap firms listed on KOSDAQ market, yet now stock trading has been halted ― took 11 months to rise to the 10-fold level.

신규 상장기업이 증권시장에 모습을 드러낸지 불과 4개월 만에 10배 수익을 거둔 것은 2000년 닷컴 버블 이후 국내 증시에서 처음이다. 한때 코스닥 상장사 중 최대 시가총액 회사였지만 지금은 거래정지된 악명 높은 신라젠마저도 10배 수준으로 오르는데 11개월이 걸렸다.

That's why voices of concern are heard among investment banking industries that the current bull market atmosphere is way overheated.

투자은행업계에서 현재의 불마켓(상승세의 주식시장)의 분위기가 과열됐다는 우려의 목소리가 나오는 이유다.
